REMEMBERING NODAR KUMARITASHVILI

David Kumaritashvili, father of Nodar Kumaritashvili, the Georgian luger killed in a practice run at the Olympics, mourns at his home in Bakuriani, Georgia. He is sitting below a giant photo of his son. The coach and uncle of Kumaritashvili said Thursday that his death has saved the lives of other athletes.

Dodo Kharazisgvili, center, the mother of the late 21-year-old Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, grieves at her son's funeral in Bakuriani, Georgia. "He told me: I will either win or die," his father, David Kumaritashvili, told The Associated Press. "But that was youthful bravado, he couldn't be seriously talking about death."
